'The glorious coastline along Tucepi is making it an increasingly popular tourist destination, thanks to its mixture of historical sights and thrilling watersports.'
The village of Tucepi was first settled four thousand years ago by the Illyrians. The area is characterised by terraced gardens, vineyards and olive groves, fed by the many natural springs. In fact the name Tucepi, is thought to be derived from old Illyrian for 'village at the source.' Its white pebble beaches are edged by pine and olive trees and enjoy a mild climate, due in part to the shelter provided by Mount Biokovo. The clear Adriatic waters are used for water-skiing, pedal boats, jet skiing, and parachute water-skiing, windsurfing, and diving – making for plenty of action packed fun. Alternatively, those of you who are into more into finding out about the history of the place can visit Tumuli, with its prehistoric burial mounds and ancient stone fort that overlooks the village. Nearby Sutvid Hill also has ancient graves, and Roman remains such as coins have also been found in the area. Other popular pursuits include hiking and mountaineering, as a way of getting to see the peaceful and picturesque open countryside. Makarska, the principal town of the famously beautiful Makarska Riviera, is the best place to visit for shopping and nightlife, and is just a short cab drive away. There you'll find a good choice of restaurants where you will be able to partake in the custom of enjoying an appetiser of say plum brandy, or an herbal liqueur, before dinner – a very easy habit to get into.
On nearby Sutvid hill are the remains of a necropolis from the classical period, where engraved stelae (upright stone slabs), graves and Roman coins have been found. The village has several interesting churches, and there are three baroque villas along the coast. Pebble beaches surrounded by pine and olive trees offer plenty of scope for watersports. Tucepi lies at the foot of the limestone peak of Biokovo, a centre for mountaineering, caving and speleology, and hiking among flower-filled meadows, as well as for hunting mouflon and chamois. To the west, Tucepi borders Makarska, the principal town of the famously beautiful Makarska riviera.

Built in 1703, the church retains several elements of an early Christian church dating to the fifth century.
