From its hillside perch, this property enjoys unbroken views across the Bay of Limassol. And this fabulous outlook is certainly put to good use. The lagoon-style pool, for instance, is in a prime spot for horizon-gazing. And what with its clutch of palm trees, banana plants and neat lawns, it's the ideal place to just kick back and relax. The sun terrace looks out to sea, too, with big comfy cream-and-wicker sofas so you can sit back and soak up the view.
Step inside the hotel and you'll be greeted by a marble lobby whose traditional decor comes with contemporary zip. Regency-style wing chairs, smart couches and leopard-print pouffes share floorspace with dark wood tables and chests. The restaurant has been given the boutique touch, too. Dressed in olive green, and accessorised with high-backed chairs and statues of goddesses, it's one seriously chic dining room.
As to the food itself, expect big buffets serving Cypriot specialities and British fare. There's an a la carte menu, too. And as this hotel is part of the Thomson Gold collection, there's plenty going on in the evenings, too. Think gala dinners, live music and glitzy shows.
The rooms, meanwhile, are comfortable and are kitted out with minibars, satellite TVs and air-conditioning. Superior rooms, meanwhile, come with canopied beds and have views of the pool or sea. Extras like fluffy bathrobes, tea and coffee-making facilities and Hi-Fis add the finishing touches.
When it comes to facilities, they're in no short supply here. There are tennis courts, a gym and a sauna. And down by the sea – a short walk away – there's a private stretch of sand where watersports are on offer. It's a bit like a beach club rounded off with a Greek-style taverna serving barbecue food.
As for location, the Atlantica Bay is in an out-of-the-way spot, close to the ancient ruins of Amathus. It's about five kilometres from lively Yermasoyia and ten kilometres from the city of Limassol. If you do want to get out and about, there's a bus stop just over the road from the hotel.
