U San Petrone

We are thrilled to have secured U San Petrone as it has the finest viewpoint from which to enjoy Cargese's spectacular sea views. The villa's unusual design - an octagonal tower with huge picture windows and a broad encircling balcony - takes every advantage of a wonderfully lofty hillside position by affording panoramic views from the heart of the village and its celebrated churches, over the splendid bay of Sagone, and its backing range of impressive mountains.

U San Petrone is only a few hundred metres from the edge of the village as the crow flies, but roads in such a hilly place as Corsica have to zigzag, so by road the little harbour, where there are a couple of good restaurants and a creperie, is one kilometre below. The centre of the village is under two kilometres, and marvellous Pero Beach, which is just one of the numerous splendid sandy beaches of the region, is just over three kilometres.

Perched up above the other houses which sparsely dot the fragrantly scented hillside, U San Petrone has a position as private as it is privileged at the end of a 350 metre rough drive.

A lovely, spacious circular sitting-dining room with open plan kitchen is U San Petrone's interior piece de resistance. When the sliding bay windows are completely retracted there is little distinction between interior and exterior, as the former is as light and airy as the latter. Behind the sitting area a semi-circular open platform leads to two bedrooms - one with a partial sea view.
