An introduction to Villa La Tour

We were extremely pleased when the owners of A Leccia and Villa Cala Di Sole, the Giannardis, offered to build a charming two-bedroom villa with its own private pool, tucked away at the bottom of the well-kept garden at A Leccia. The combination of a villa with private pool within walking distance of the beach was an offer too good to pass up, and we certainly have not been disappointed.

The villa is very stylish with pastel pink walls and elegant white balustrades on the steps leading up to the house. The interiors are light and airy, and have been furnished to a high standard, particularly in the fully equipped open plan kitchen which has been attractively tiled in pale yellow and blue with matching fixtures and fittings.

It is outside however that guests will find that they are drawn to spend the majority of their time. Through large picture windows from the lounge, there is a magnificent terrace which spans the whole front of the house, and which enjoys fabulous views looking out to Pero beach and the 'Tour d'Omigna'. A few metres to the side and to the front of the villa is the amazing pool, surrounded by a paved terrace with sunloungers, the perfect place to relax and unwind, soaking up the Corsican sun.

Cargese is steeped in history and has many opportunities for historical discovery. Cargese is famous for having given asylum to Greek refugees that sought refuge in Corsica in 1676. Its two churches, one Orthodox and the other Catholic, stand facing each other. At Cargese, take a look inside the Greek church that houses some beautiful icons and, also have a look round the Catholic church.

Explore the Genoese bridges of Pianella and Zaglia, and the Ota tiles that the women used to mould on their thighs. Dive into the turquoise waters of the Menasina beach, near to Cargese, which is hidden away in some beautiful maquis. Exhilarating walks await you, especially those that take you to the beautiful lake Creno, which is covered with waterlilies. Enjoy swimming in the pools of fresh water created by the Aitone waterfalls.

La tour provided the perfect relaxing holiday. the villa owners made us very welcome before disappearing leaving us to this perfect location. very private yet close to the beach and village centre down side is the three and half hour drive on twisting... more on this review
