Kalliste

Kalliste was built by a great uncle of Maxime Fratacci in the 1930s and, inside, many of the original features have been retained whilst the level of comfort and convenience are that of a modern home. The centrepiece of the living-dining area is an enormous, wooden, circular dining table with attached bench seat made by a Swedish designer, which Monsieur Fratacci picked up on his travels with the navy. Beautiful, hand crafted tiles cover the floor of this room and the bedrooms upstairs. They have endured the test of time since rather than being painted on the surface, the colours run right through the ceramic. The kitchen includes a full oven, hob, fridge and freezer plus the modern day essential of a microwave. Upstairs, the high-ceilinged double and twin bedrooms share a shower room with a power shower.
Interesting as the interior is, the garden is where we are sure you will spend much of your time. Enclosed so that it is safe for children, and covered in indigenous flora such as olive trees, myrtle bushes and a clementine tree, it offers both sun and shade throughout the day. Being in an elevated position the views from the garden and terrace are stunning, taking in the tower of the 11th-century village church and the sea beyond. Although the delights of St Florent are only a short drive away, the evening has to start with a Muscat aperitif under the clementine tree watching the sun go down.
