Hotel Santa Maria

The Santa Maria is a prime spot for those wishing to holiday without being obliged to have a car as it offers a comfortable base with a swimming pool and excellent access to everything which makes for a relaxing holiday. It is only a few paces across the road to the small beach which fringes Ile Rousse's anchorage; here there is a beachside restaurant (open in high summer) and a watersports school which is open all through the season and offers lessons in English. The Santa Maria also has its very own access to the small shingle beach on the hotel side.

From the hotel, it takes just two minutes to walk to the little train station, where you can catch the beach-hopping service to Calvi or set off early on a day's expedition up to the mountains of the interior. The old town, with its main square, boutiques and restaurants, and the start of Ile Rousse's other lovely sandy beach are within 10 minutes by foot. Another rarity is that this hotel offers a more substantial buffet breakfast than the standard rolls and croissant.

The sea is ever present on both sides of the Santa Maria, which sits at the beginning of the little causeway leading to the red-rock promontory of the Ile Rousse.
