Lama, a beautifully preserved hillside village, is one of the loveliest in Corsica. Lama combines tradition with facilities: a good sprinkling of friendly little bars and restaurants (not necessarily open in spring and autumn) and a village grocery. Alternatively, it is only a 15-minute drive to Ponte Leccia for supermarket shopping, or for catching the little train which trundles through the mountains. Almost as quick to reach in the opposite direction is the splendid, completely unspoilt beach of Ostriconi. Lama is well placed for exploring as Calvi, the Balagne, St Florent, Corte, the Restonica Valley and the Castagniccia are all within an hour's drive.
