An introduction to Bergerie Olivella

Olivella and Murtetu are set on a hillside one above the other, but without vis-a-vis, and enjoy splendid views across the Valinco Gulf. The charmingly helpful owner Jean-Luc Ettori's family have had land on this hillside for generations, but the family moved to Olmeto village after the Second World War and the buildings fell into ruin. When Jean-Luc rediscovered the property, originally built in 1854, a tree was growing through the living area and maquis covered most of the brickwork. The conversion started in 1990 and took two years to complete to ensure every comfort and convenience was incorporated.
The bergerie has three bedrooms, the master double has an en suite shower room and it opens onto the lovely terrace, which also runs along the kitchen and living area and has enough garden furniture to have newly-made friends over to dinner. The enormous pool has a relaxing whirlpool bath but also provides an exercise wave to swim against the current for those wanting a little more exertion on their holidays. For culinary treats, Jean-Luc's brother Eric is a travelling butcher who is sure to be able to offer you the finest cuts for your barbecue, but if you would prefer to eat out there is a ferme auberge close by to sample local Corsican fare or you can head five minutes down the road for a choice of restaurants in Olmeto.
