Hotel Roc E Fiori

Original, intimate, and absolutely adorable, the Roc e Fiori has a style all of its own. The lovely little hotel resembles a higgledy-piggledy Mediterranean hamlet, painted in pastel tones of rose-pink, and ochre. Luxuriant foliage peeps out from the golden granite boulders which are so distinctive of this glorious part of the island, and so the name, 'Rock and Flowers' is an apt one. With only a small number of rooms and suites, each with its own private terrace or garden (one suite even has a private outdoor whirlpool bath) as well as stylish indoor sitting areas, and romantic outdoor ones dotted around the gardens, guests have more the impression of staying in a cottage than in a hotel room, especially as the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly.

The pretty outdoor bar area by the pool is a delightful spot for enjoying the delicious breakfasts, and the 'plateau piscine' (a selection of cold appetizers) which is included on arrival for all our guests, making the unwinding process after a journey even quicker. Similar delectable salad lunches can be ordered on subsequent days by those who just cannot bear to drag themselves away from the pool or the two whirlpool baths at lunchtime.

The Roc e Fiori is something of a haven (to maintain serenity children are not encouraged) yet one in which the proximity to the natural beauties of Corsica is never forgotten. The hotel is found in the little hamlet of Bocca dell'Oro, just a few kilometres from Porto Vecchio's deservedly famous beaches, Palombaggia and Santa Giulia. From the pool, the whirlpool baths and the adjacent bar and terrace, stretch splendid views both to the sea (just 2km below) and up to the mountains.

The Roc e Fiori staff are knowledgeable as well as friendly and can offer advice on choosing the best beach, the most traditional mountain auberge, the best restaurant in or out of town, or the most interesting car routes, or the most diverting walk. The charming manager, Isabelle, has gone to considerable lengths to decorate each room or suite beautifully with different Mediterranean motifs and colours, sea-blue, leafy-green and sunny yellow, so that each has its own distinctive personality. All have a dressing room, sitting area (or separate sitting room for the largest suites), mini-bar, satellite TV (with BBC), telephone, hairdryer and safe and they all offer the comfort of air-conditioning.In the prettiest of settings, perfectly located for easy access to beautiful beaches and sophisticated Porto Vecchio, this idyllic spot offers a splendid chance for real relaxation.
