The crystal clear waters and white sand show that you don't have to travel to the Bahamas to enjoy such beauty.

Step back in time and delve into the historical sights that surround the area. Discover the region's wild heart and dramatic history, coloured by successive invasions from the sea. Amid the mountains and along the coast are spectacular 15th century Genoese watchtowers, built to defend the island against pirates.

Should you wish to sample some of the excellent, locally produced wines, just drop in and ask the friendly locals. Or if you're out for a relaxing Sunday stroll, take a trip to market, where you can pick up mouth-watering produce such as fresh fruit and vegetables or luxurious fresh lobster.
