Tersanas Village Apartments

All whitewashed walls and higgledy-piggledy rooftops, these sugar-cube apartments are as Greek as they come. Set in sweet-smelling gardens, they're surrounded by bright pink begonias, draped in bougainvillea, and shaded by olive, fig and mimosa trees. It's the perfect setting for a Greek Island escape.

The apartments themselves are bright, spacious and well equipped. White walls, tiled floors and painted wooden furniture add a taste of authentic Greece. And they've all got their own private balcony or terrace, ideal for enjoying the sunsets this island is famous for.

Outside, meanwhile, the views over the mountains and the sea are to die for. But taking centre-stage is a T-shaped swimming pool, bordered by loungers, sun shades and terracotta pots. And, just across the garden you'll find the Sunset Taverna, a little restaurant run by the Pantzelioudakis family who own these apartments. Open every day for lunch and dinner, the menu is packed with traditional Cretan dishes cooked by Maria to her family's own secret recipes.

On the location front, you couldn't ask for a better spot. Not only are the Tersanas Village Apartments set in beautiful countryside but their namesake beach, a pretty little cove called Tersanas, is just a 10-minute stroll away. And Horofakia village is closer still. It takes a mere five minutes doorstep to centre.
