Carettas Nest

Three houses, each comprising a ground floor and first floor apartment, have been built along traditional Kefalonian lines, without eschewing modern comforts such as a fitted kitchen, a large shower room and air-conditioning. Each house is built successively higher than the last ensuring that the apartments face the sea. Outside, there is plenty of space for relaxation around the large pool.

Guests staying at Caretta's Nest will appreciate the seclusion of this spot just as much as the loggerheads do and the comfortable apartments lie only a turtle's crawl away from the sea. Skala, with its range of tavernas and other tourist facilities, is a ten-minute drive away, whilst the coastal village of Kato Katelios, at a distance of only 3km from Caretta's Nest, is a great place to eat a delicious fish supper.

Southeastern Kefalonia is one of our favourite corners of the island and its sweeping sandy beaches are surprisingly largely undiscovered by the tourist hordes. Sandy Kaminia Beach is a WWF-protected breeding ground for the loggerhead turtle, otherwise known as caretta caretta, which this group of apartments has been named after.
