An introduction to Swallow Studios

The Swallow comprises two twin-bedded studios, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. Both are simply but attractively furnished with pine furniture, a small kitchenette unit in an alcove and a shower room. Although not huge, the studios feel extremely light and airy, as large picture windows lead onto the shaded, bougainvillaea-covered balconies, letting in the most beautiful sea view along the south coast and across to the island of Tsougria.

Although these two charming studios are less than ten minutes' walk from Skiathos Town's bustling high street and the lovely tavernas and restaurants that line the waterfront, they offer wonderfully authentic accommodation in Greek surroundings, for they stand in the upper part of the picturesque Old Town, near the pretty church of Agia Triada. At night-time this part of town is fairly quiet, as the steep narrow lanes that twist down to the harbour from here are only wide enough for the odd motorbike to pass through.

After a day spent on one of the island's fabulous beaches or exploring the unspoilt interior, your balcony is the perfect place for an aperitif whilst deciding where to go for dinner. From simple backstreet tavernas to smart harbourfront restaurants, the town offers an excellent choice of eating places and there is an equally wide selection of bars, ranging from romantically quiet to positively lively. In the mornings, fetching breakfast is ease itself, as a local bakery and a small mini-market are within a minute's walk of the studios.
