Villa Plaka

An introduction to Villa Plaka

Sitting among secluded olive groves and fruit orchards, Villa Plaka is as peaceful as they come. Whitewashed with wooden shutters and a red tiled roof, it's delightfully traditional. Outside, the sun terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy the peaceful countryside with an al fresco dining table. And when the heat gets too much, take a few steps down and cool off in your private pool, which is sunk into a pretty patio area with sky-blue sunbeds.
The real piece de resistance here though is the view. Swooping down past swishing pine trees, there are azure-blue seas as far as the eye can see. You'll never tire of sitting or swimming here as you watch tiny fishing boats bobbing on the twinkling waters. And the sunsets are nothing short of spectacular. You won't want to move a muscle.
You'll be just as charmed by the inside of Villa Plaka. It may have a modern open-plan layout, but it's crammed full of old world charm. We're talking a wood beamed ceiling. A feature fireplace. And traditional handmade lace curtains. You'll also find a comfy sofa, dining table and a kitchen where you can rustle up simple Greek delights. Climb the stairs and there are two restful bedrooms, one double and a twin. Furnished with wrought iron beds and rich red duvets, both have balcony doors leading out to the back of the villa.
When you need some supplies, you're not totally off the beaten track here. The picture-postcard town of Glossa is just a five minute drive away where you'll find a butcher, bakery and a friendly little taverna. Or the tiny port town of Loutraki is just a few minutes further with an attractive waterfront that's laced with eateries. If you fancy a dip in the sea, the shingle bay of Almyropetra is within walking distance. And you can always don your walking boots and explore the emerald-green hills that surround you, following the old donkey paths.
Of course, you might just want to stay put and simply soak up the golden silence. And who could blame you? After all, it's what getting away from it all is all about.
