'Limenaria ticks all the holiday boxes … a big sandy beach, just enough nightlife and a sprinkling of seafront eateries.'
Cafe bars freckle the front behind a super sandy beach. Windsurfing and waterskiing become spectator sports for sunbathers. And hydrofoils spill visitors ashore – in exchange for those keen to explore other places. This is the seaside scene at Limenaria. Inland, 19th century mansions cling to the hillside, adding a touch of history and character - and making the most of terrific views across to mainland Mount Athos. The town's main street runs down from here to the port, busy with gift, craft and jewellery shops. 'Mod cons' include banks, bars and disco's. So the daily rhythm goes something like this… bustling mornings and snoozily slow afternoons. Early evening strolls to favourite al fresco tables. And lively nights lit by disco ball glitter. And with easy access to Pefkari, Potos and the tiny little ancharge of Trypiti, a change of scene is fairly effortless too.In fact, little Limenaria has got the holiday balance just right.

Limenaria was founded by the inhabitants of the ancient mountain village of Kastro, situated at a height of 800m above sea level. The wall that was built in c1434 as protection against marauding pirates is still present today, although no villagers are. The fascinating ruins of this deserted village are well worth a visit.
