An introduction to Hotel Rocamarina

Whitewashed and only a couple of storeys high, the Rocamarina has Mediterranean good looks polished off with bougainvillea and palm trees. And the fact this place is family-run and fairly compact means the hotel has a decidedly homely feel. It goes some way to explain why guests often say they feel like an old friends here.

At the heart of the hotel lies the swimming pool. It's a good-sized, rectangular number surrounded by sunbeds and umbrellas, plus there's an al fresco snack bar shaded by big linen parasols. And here's a handy hint – if it gets a bit busy down by the pool, head up onto the roof terrace. It's a real suntrap and there's plenty of space to stretch out.

In terms of location, the hotel sits by a sandy cove called Es Forti. There's a beach close by and it's only about a minute's walk into the heart of Cala Egos where you'll find a pretty little marina and plenty of outdoor bars and cafes. You've got facilities close at hand, too. There's a tennis club just over the road which belongs to the Rocamarina, and the Vall d'Or golf course isn't far away, about a ten-minute drive.

As for the rooms here, they're bright and perky, decked out in blue and yellow tones. All are kitted out with air-conditioning, satellite TVs and have their own balconies. Superior rooms are available, too, and come with reclining terrace chairs, bathrobes and slippers and complimentary fruit and wine upon arrival.
