Holidays in Cala Millor

An introduction to Cala Millor

Dull moments are rare in this bright, bubbly beach resort. Spread along a four mile bay on Majorca's rugged north east coast, Cala Millor punches over its weight when it comes to holiday attractions.

You'll realise this is no wallflower resort the moment you arrive. Standing on the attractive, palm-shaded promenade, you'll see a ribbon of gradually shelving sands unfurled before you, stretching lazily between rocky headlands that protect its calm sapphire waters. All along here in high season, people lie immobile under straw sunshades, kids build crumbly sandcastles and candy-coloured windsurf sails patrol the shallows, all earmarking Cala as a mecca for beach-loving families and couples.

Every square inch of the promenade is occupied with cheery beach stores, souvenir shops and welcoming outdoor cafes. Sit here for a sun-drenched lunch and dig into everything from traditional tapas to burgers and pasta accompanied by stunning bay views. Behind the seafront, the pedestrianised centre offers legions of shops, restaurants and bars to keep you shopping and entertained. And by night, everywhere shifts up a gear to make Cala one of eastern Majorca's liveliest, but not boisterous, high-season nightspots. Family entertainments, karaoke bars and pubs steal the show, but if you want to pull out all the stops, a few high-energy discos will keep you up late.
There are ample non-beachy distractions around. Why not play golf or take the kids to the local safari and water parks? Alternatively, seek out the awe-inspiring caves of Drach along the coast to see their amazing stalactites and stalagmites. And to slow the tempo, stroll along the waterfront to quieter Cala Bona for a lingering supper around its pretty harbour.
