Guide to Calas De Mallorca

'With its enchanting sandy coves, kids' entertainment and easy-going vibe, Calas de Majorca has perfect family holidays down to a tee.'

What's your vision of the perfect family holiday? Magical sandy bays with sapphire waters? A small, peaceful resort that never gets over-lively? Oh, and near-constant sunshine to beam down on you and the kids?

If that sounds right to you, then make a beeline for Calas de Majorca on the island's cove-riddled east coast. Modern, easy-going and unfussy, this self-contained resort features all the holiday essentials and tops them all off with an exquisite coastline.

First off, the beaches are lovely-jubbly and popular for it. Linked by a pretty cliff path, all three are carpeted with fine, smooth sands that glide gradually into some of the clearest waters you'll ever clap eyes on. Although there are occasional strong undercurrents, the waters and rocky coves cry out to be paddled and splashed in, whilst a range of sedate watersports like pedalos give you ready-made excuses to get out on the waves.

Away from the beaches, take the kids into Calas' centre to watch them whoop with glee at the funfair and playground. Or head out of town to the nearby zoo or bird sanctuary. And if you fancy a morning's souvenir hunting, neighbouring Porto Cristo offers wicked shops and a photogenic, restaurant-lined harbourside.

Whatever you do, be sure to catch a bus or boat to the magnificent Caves of Drach. A warren of ginormous caverns filled with underground lakes and dramatic stalactites and stalagmites, they're an eye-popping sight.
Back at base, it's up to you how to spend your evening.

Whether it's enjoying Calas' small selection of live music bars or relaxing over dinner at your hotel, the resort's laid-back atmosphere lets you go with the flow.
